Welcome! My name is Ana Mercedes Sánchez-Ramírez, I am a Lecture Professor at the Political Science Department of the Pontifica Universidad Javeriana. I am also a Technical Writer and Communications Specialist at the Venezuela Respuesta e Integración (VRI) Integra, a USAID Activity implemented by Chemonics International.

I hold a Ph.D. in Peace Studies and History from the University of Notre Dame's Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies. I hold an M.A. in History from the University of Notre Dame as well as an M.A. in Ethnic Studies and a graduate certificate in Women Studies from Colorado State University, as well as a B.A. degree in Anthropology from the National University of Colombia.

I am interested in the history of peace in modern Latin America, particularly the articulation between the production of knowledge about violence and national peace efforts. My current research focuses on the political and intellectual histories of peacebuilding in late 20th century Colombia. I have previously worked on themes of violence, memory, and representations of the Colombian armed conflict.
